Cruise begins charging fares for driverless rides in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, California: General Motors' self-driving Cruise division has begun charging fares for driverless rides in San Francisco.

Earlier this month, Cruise became the first company in the United States to secure a permit to charge for the service in San Francisco.

The fared driverless rides are currently available in the northwest third of the city, Cruise announced this, adding that it would soon expand the service.
